Ukraine Romance Tour Investigation – Part 3
Remember wise saying: There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch? But… some ladies in Ukraine and Russia additionally to an absolutely free lunch are getting paid!
As of 2012 we have introduced a special anti scam department in our agency that works with clients who have been scammed, or who do not want to get scammed. We focus for almost a decade on teaching foreign men how not to get scammed. We know exactly how such romance tours are organized in Odessa, Kiev and Kharkiv including how much money translators and ladies earn during these getaways. For our investigation we had to find out how much translators and ladies in Nikolaev were paid. It was not hard as Oliver provided us with phone number of translator to whom he has been assigned while he was on a romance tour in Nikolaev.
Our detective in Nikolaev found Oliver’s translator by her phone number in classified ads section of local newspaper. He agreed to meet with translator as if he needed some English lessons for someone. During meeting with help of Benjamin Franklin we managed to find out how much dating agency in Nikolaev paid to translators. Additionally we managed to find about their usual working schedule as well as how much ladies who agree to participate in this scam game are getting paid.
In Nikolaev individual translator is assigned for 6 days to each man during such romance tours.
Working time is usually from 14:00 till about 18:00 on the first day, from 9:00 till about 18:00 on the second and third day, and from 18:00 till 22:00 on fourth, fifth and sixth days of the romance tour. Each translator is paid by dating agency 150 US Dollars for all 6 days! That makes it a total of 3150 US Dollars is paid to translators (150 US Dollars x 21 men).
Good question to ask at this point: Why do translators agree to work 6 days for just 150 USD?
Answer is simple: They recommend only those restaurants where foreigners are presented with a special menu for foreigners. So, when foreign man comes to such restaurant, he is presented with a special menu in which prices are increased minimum 3 times from the usual price. If foreigner comes there with a translator during such event, translator gets cashback of 50% from the bill. And if translator and lady come in such restaurant with a foreigner, there is another special menu in which prices would be increased minimum 4 times. This time there is menu for clients of dating agencies with a 60% cashback from the bill, which is divided 50/50 between lady and translator.
In Odessa we know several restaurants where prices are increased 7 times from the usual price! Sometimes average bill for 3 people can be more than 1,000 USD! Some dating agencies in Odessa also get 20% – 30% cashback from the bill, dividing the rest between translator and lady. Most probably that dating agency in Nikolaev hasn’t come up with such idea… yet 😉
Average bill in each Oliver’s case was about 300 USD, so we can easily calculate 60% cashback – lady and translator got additional 100 USD each and had a very delicious dinner! Not bad, huh? 😉
Now let’s move on to the next part of our investigation and find out the most interesting part – how much do ladies get paid by those dating agencies?
